WHY MAKE A WILL?

The main reason for making a will is to set out your wishes and instructions for after your death. You can choose who you would like to be your beneficiaries and what you would like them to receive. It also allows you to appoint an Executor who oversees the administration of your estate.

Without a will, Intestacy Laws are applied to your estate, which use a rigid set of criteria to divide it. This means they are unlikely to match your own wishes and can cause complications for your loved ones. A will is therefore an important document for us all, particularly if you are a parent or have any sizeable assets such as a house.

Making a will also means that you can plan for Inheritance Tax, reducing the chunk this can take from your estate.
