legal services for housing associations

Upon the loss of a loved one, there is a lot to be done and trying to handle all the paperwork relating to the deceased's financial affairs can add to the inevitable distress of the family.

We at howarth goodman will handle all aspects of probate work, including:-

Initial advice as to whether a grant of representation is necessary (probate where there is a will and letters of administration where there isn't)

Preparation of the appropriate oath to be sworn by executors or administrators

Preparation of Inland Revenue accounts should the estate be liable to inheritance tax (£250,000 upwards). If the gross estate is over £210,000,  an Inland Revenue account is compulsary

The gathering of the deceased's assets, payment of debts, preparation of income tax returns and distribution amongst the beneficiaries

Acting as executors ourselves, if desired

We also deal with cases where special grants of representation may be needed, e.g. where there is a will which does not appoint executors or where the death was many years ago and probate is now needed.

On the death of a spouse, we will prepare a new will for the surviving widow/widower at no extra cost.

For sympathetic but professional advice on all probate matters contact David Monks at our Prestwich office.
