Personal Injury questions and answers
Am I entitled to make a claim?
If you have been injured in an accident, then it is possible you have a valid claim for compensation. Osmond Gaunt & Rose offer free initial consultations in which we will assess your claim and let you know if you have a case for compensation.
Does it matter if the accident was partly my fault?
No. As long as there was somebody else involved, you may still be entitled to compensation. If the accident was wholly your fault, though, you will not be able to make a claim.
How long do I have to make a claim?
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, the injury must have occurred within the last three years.
How much compensation will I get?
This varies with each individual case. Your losses and extra expenses as a result of the injury are taken into account, as well as the pain you have suffered. Compensation can cover loss of salary, damage to car, special nursing needs etc.
I’ve made an appointment to see you. Is there anything I need to bring along?
The more information you can provide us with, the stronger your claim will be. We will need a detailed account of the accident, including a description of your injuries, dates and the names of any people involved.
If you have them, other useful items to bring include:
- payslips to show loss of earnings
- receipts for any expenses you have incurred
- a record of visits to your GP
- a diary of any pain you have suffered
- photographs of where the incident took place
- witness accounts of the accident
