ELECTRONIC CONVEYANCING

Electronic conveyancing will be with us soon. Under government proposals, full-blown electronic conveyancing will not be in place until at least the year 2006 but some procedures in the buying of land can already be dealt with electronically.

  • All dealings with the Land Registry can be transacted by us online
  • We can arrange online searches at the Local Authority, Environment Agency and Local Water Authority
  • Most Local Authorities (though not yet all) will forward the results of searches to us electronically
  • We can pass copies of all searches on to you

For the next year or so, much of the land buying process will still be done through paper documents. The Land Registry hopes, however, that within a year systems will be in place to handle parts of the process, for example the creation of mortgages, electronically.
